The Westin Cairo Golf Resort & Spa Katameya Dunes
Katameya Dunes provides 27 Championship holes in three layouts, where fairways, greens and lakes have been sculpted into a pristine natural landscape of swaying palms and vivid colors. Tour professionals and beginners are equally captivated by the Dunes, which is immaculately prepared and lovingly maintained for an exceptional experience. At Katameya Dunes we live and breathe golf! Located in Cairo's thriving, outlying Fifth Settlement District, the course is conveniently close to Cairo International Airport, many excursion site seeing sites and the vibrant Cairo Festival City commercial and many other retail areas. Katameya Dunes comprises the Lakes Course (7,435 yards) and the Palms Course (7,315 yards), with five tee positions to provide a challenge suited to any standard of golfer, from the beginner to the mid handicappers and tour players. Multi-Major winner Sir Nick Faldo devised a course with his trademark 'risk and reward' holes, including Par 3s that are both delightful and daunting as you launch your tee shots over water or alongside a tumbling cascade of waterfalls.
Soma Bay Golf
Blessed with a year round temperate climate, Somabay is the perfect golfing destination to enjoy an experience like no other. The championship golf course at Somabay was designed by the golfing icon that is Gary Player. The South African has firmly established himself as one of the greats not just in terms of his playing career but, for many years now in the world of golf course design. In the mid 1990’s Gary Player was approached to design a course on the Somabay Resort and he duly delivered a truly world class layout which he referred to as the Pebble Beach of Africa based on its proximity to the Red Sea. The course plays through the desert around the resort with no less than 6 holes positioned on the dramatic Red Sea coastline. Tees, fairways and greens provide a playing oasis as the course meanders around the resorts with constant, breath-taking views of the Red Sea all with stunning mountains as a backdrop. The golf facilities continue to improve at Somabay and world class practice facilities by way of a 300m double ended floodlit range with exquisite turf teeing area has been joined by an incredible 5000 sqm Short Game Arena, designed by James Edwards from EDI Golf that provides an unlimited variety of opportunity for those wanting to hone their short game. A second course is under construction and is being designed by Tim Lobb from Lobb & Partners. This course is being designed with playability in mind and will perfectly compliment the existing course.
The Allegria Golf Club
Built in 2010, The Allegria features an 18-hole masterpiece designed by Greg Norman. The course was designed to be a natural extension of the Allegria community and has integrated seamlessly into the surrounding community. The 18-hole, par-72 parkland-style course stretches 7,217 yards from the black tees and 5,389 yards from the red tees. Lakes, streams, rock features, vegetation, and undulating topography are the natural elements implemented in the design of The Allegria. The large number of trees on site enhances not only the beauty of the landscape but also the golfer's experience. The ingenuity of the Greg Norman design is exemplified by the playing experience of very different golfers. The course is both playable by beginners and is Cairo's most serious challenge to the accomplished golfer. The Allegria has all the outstanding characteristics, making it a magnificent golf course truly unique to Egypt and the region.
